Flint Handmade is a collective of crafters located in Flint, Michigan. I had the pleasure of designing their logo and still work with them to create flyers and handbills for their bi-annual markets.
Jes Kramer is a local indie musician that I have been a fan of for a number of years. I built this Flash site to be dynamic for her fans and people who want to know more about her, with an mp3 player so they can sample some songs, a few galleries, a bunch of links, and everything else in between. The site is also built to be easy for her to update, with the mp3 player, galleries and upcoming shows page using .xml. The playful design was inspired by the tone of her music which in turn encompasses her personality.

As secretary of the Kendall AIGA for two semesters, I got the chance to make some cool posters. All of them were executed in one sitting.

As a typography student I felt like we were being taught just that: typography. The use of pictures was discouraged in every project so for this open-ended "Type and Image" assignment I went with an alternative process. I married the type and the image, letting neither one exist without the other. My concept was to take common phrases or idioms and depict them in a literal sense, each containing all of the following components : collage, stamps, pencil, watercolor, and a 3D element. Some may not consider this to be graphic design at first glance, but I know I would not have been able to accomplish it without knowledge of such.
8" x 10" in hand-painted frames
Sip is a brand of tea that I made up entirely. I developed a strong logo and carried it
throughout the components
as the main focus in each design. The website concept
would be done in Flash and I aimed to do something very raster-based as a challenge
because I tend to use mostly vector art in my work.
Dapper Young Fellow (or DYF for short) is a concept for a brand of men's toiletries. I arranged the typography in a way that gives
a vintage look and used some wordplay to add a charming
quality. Simple box packaging seemed appropriate for the old-fashioned scheme.
One of my very first hand-made type pieces, created after analyzing the First Things First 2000 manifesto. 7" x 7"
Outdoor board concept
"The Doors, Greatest Hits" CD cover. Made with real hair.

Submission to Ceiling Tile Mad Libs portion of SiTE:LAB 2010. 4' x 2'
The pillow is a very personal article. The pillow is a very intimate, overlooked article. Pillow talk is private conversation, endearments, or confidences exchanged in bed between significant others. These are the things everyone wants to hear.
I have handmade a lot of neat books with strange concepts and this poster is meant
to display them
all. I used a very simple layout to not take away from any of the
content and just let the spreads speak
for themselves. The vertical orientation of
the spreads is similar to that of the Pages palette in InDesign -
the program used to
make the publications. Below each one are the specs of that publication. The poster
folds down neatly for easy transportation.
3' x 2' when opened flat
This is a teaching tool I developed in Flash to educate people about facial hair. It provides the history and facts as well as a showcase of notably hairy folks. The main attraction is the interactive facial-hair-growing man who sports only the most fashionable styles.
See for yourself.
